In line with the sustainable character of the event, traveling to Vienna by train is the first choice. You can also easily compare the enviromental impact of your personal travel options using the EcoPassenger website. Our intention is to offset as much as possible of the CO2 emissions caused by the travel activities related to the conference. To that end, we refer to the CO2 compensation program offered by the Competence Center for Climate Change of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna. We recommend to all participants a — clearly voluntary — compensation of the CO2 emissions caused by their own travel.
Travel by train: Vienna occupies a hub position in Europe's international rail network and features excellent connections to all major European cities. The offer of night trains is also exceptionally large and connects Vienna to even more distant cities in Europe by train (see map below). The main station of Vienna is called Wien Hauptbahnhof and is directly connected to the underground line U1, which brings you to Karlsplatz in less than five minutes. From there, the event location of the conference is just a few steps away.
Special fares for traveling with the Austrian Federal Railway (ÖBB) are available for all participants of the GACM Colloquium 2023 at the following link: ÖBB special fares Click on the link and enter the TAN code (provided by email to all participants). You will then be able to register as a new customer using your e-mail address and book your journey to the GACM Colloquium 2023 in a relaxed manner. See the web site of Vienna airport for information on travel to and from the airport.
